Installation Instructions

Step 1: Download Cursor

  1. Visit the official Cursor website at https://cursor.sh
  2. Click the "Download" button in the top right corner
  3. The website will automatically detect your operating system and provide the appropriate installer

Step 2: Install Cursor

For Windows

  1. Once downloaded, locate the installer file (usually in your Downloads folder)
  2. Double-click the installer file (named something like Cursor-Setup.exe)
  3. If prompted by Windows security, click "Yes" to allow the installation
  4. Follow the installation wizard:
    • Click "Next" to proceed
    • Accept the license agreement
    • Choose your installation location (the default is usually fine)
    • Click "Install"
    • Wait for the installation to complete
    • Click "Finish"

Step 3: Add Cursor to Context Menus (Windows)

To enable right-click functionality to open folders in Cursor:

  1. Open Cursor
  2. Click on the gear icon (⚙️) in the bottom left corner to open Settings
  3. Search for "context menu" in the settings search bar
  4. Find the option "Add 'Open with Cursor' to Windows Explorer context menu"
  5. Check the box to enable this feature
  6. You may need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect

Step 4: Start Your Free Trial

  1. Launch Cursor for the first time
  2. You'll be prompted to sign in or create an account
  3. Choose "Start Free Trial" when prompted
  4. Your 14-day free trial will begin automatically
  5. During the trial, you'll have access to all premium features

Additional Tips

  • You can open Cursor directly from the Start menu (Windows)
  • To open a folder in Cursor, you can either:
    • Right-click the folder and select "Open with Cursor" (if you enabled the context menu)
    • Drag and drop the folder onto the Cursor icon
    • Use File > Open Folder from within Cursor
